The watch brand “Pobeda” was created by order of the Kremlin in April 1945. The goal was to produce Russian watches that celebrated the heroism and freedom of the Russian nation. Penza Watch Factory was the first to produce “Pobeda” watches in November 1945, then Kirov Watch Factory in 1946 and finally Petrodvorets Watch Factory also started the production.
The first “Pobeda” wristwatches were extremely popular and successful. Until the 60-s, “Pobeda” was the most produced watch model in the world. Politicians, military, art and culture figureheads wore “Pobeda” watches.
After Gagarin travelled to space in 1961, Pobeda watches were gradually replaced by watch brands linked to the cosmos thematic, like for example the “Raketa” brand.
Since 2009 lawyers of Petrodvorets Watch Factory made significant efforts - and have succeeded - in re-registering this Russian historical and legendary brand. Designers are already working for a whole year on a new “Pobeda” collection.
In February 2014 the Factory has started producing a temporary limited collection of Pobeda watches. It will start selling the new collection in 2015 in honour of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War.
